The Boundary Is Permeable 2

The wide range of working methods and strategies of contemporary illustrators make classification all the more difficult. Graphic Designers, for example, become known as illustrators, while artists produce illustrations for magazines on the side and illustrations are presented in exhibition spaces under the heading of “art”. The Dividing line between the disciples of art and design has become permeable – and probably always has been. Yet the self-image of contemporary illustration is a highly ambivalent one.
